Xbox You can now play Microsoft Flight Simulator in VR

In a post on Xbox Wire, the head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, Jorg Neumann, wrote that the title now supports a variety of VR hardware, including Windows Mixed Reality headsets, as well as tech from Oculus, Valve and HTC.

“The flight sim community has been a very active and insightful partner in shaping how the team approached VR, and continues to be a critical partner in our continued development as we make further improvements and add new features to the simulation,” Neumann wrote.

“Adding VR to Microsoft Flight Simulator was a direct result of community feedback, and we look forward to continued involvement in the future of the franchise with us.”

This follows Microsoft Flight Simulator launching in August of this year.

By September, the game had attracted more than one million players before the firm revealed that this figure had doubled to two million in the middle of December. Microsoft Flight Simulator is also the biggest title in Xbox Game Pass for PC to date.

Ahead of launch, analytics firm Jon Peddie Research said that the game would help shift $2.6 billion in PC hardware and peripherals. No doubt some of this revenue was virtual reality headsets.

Right now, Microsoft Flight Simulator is only available on PC, but the firm revealed that it would be bringing the game to Xbox Series X and Series S in summer 2021.
