Elden Ring is a game full of unpleasant effects that are thrown onto the player to make the game even harder. One of the most common ones is Scarlet Rot. Here is everything you need to know on how to cure and avoid Scarlet Rot in Elden Ring.

In Elden Ring, there can be plenty of status effects, either positive or negative. Scarlet Rot falls under the latter category and it’s one of the deadliest conditions in the game.

In your playtime, you will definitely stumble upon whole lakes full of Scarlet Rot. Going through it is necessary if you want to get certain items or defeat a specific boss.If you are looking for Elden Ring Runes, just google search Aoeah and check it out, use code FORUM for discount!

How Does Scarlet Rot Work in Elden Ring?
Scarlet Rot is applied to you in many ways. Some enemies have attacks that cause you to be affected by this condition. The most common source, however, are lakes and huge rivers of Scarlet Rot.

Huge poisonous areas tend to be red and do not look appealing at all. The most common places are:

Aeonia in Caelid
Huge Scarlet Rot Lake in Ainsel River
Abandoned Cave in Caelid
If you are being exposed for too long to the effects of Scarlet Rot, you will start losing HP (Health Points) until the effect is over.

How to Avoid Scarlet Rot in Elden Ring?
Ideally, you do not want to be affected by Scarlet Rot in the first place. Make sure to use Torrent whenever possible to avoid standing in pools of Rot.

However, you will not have access to your companion in all situations.

If Torrent is not available whenever you are make sure to sprint jump right before walking into a place filled with Scarlet Rot. You can go from island to island and wait out the buildup or just run through it and cure it after.

Sometimes rolling is the best option, but you need to remember that it will make you covered in Scarlet Rot, and it will still build up after you leave the source.

How to Cure Scarlet Rot in Elden Ring?
If you happened to be affected by it and were not able to avoid it here are some items that can help you cure it.

The most common method of curing Scarlet Rot in Elden Ring is by consuming Preserving Boluses. To craft this item you will need:

Dewkissed Herbs x 2 – you can find it everywhere in Siofra River location
Crystal Cave Moss x 1– you can find it in the Stillwater Cave and Academy Crystal Cave
Sacramental Bud x 1 – you can find it around Church of the Plague and Writheblood Ruins

You will also need Armorer’s Cookbook. You can gather this crafting book from a corpse near Siofra River Bank Site of Grace.
