Xbox EA Play games join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in November

  • Staff
EA Play’s library of games officially joins Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on Nov. 10, the same day the Xbox Series X and Series S launch, Microsoft announced Tuesday.

The joining of Electronic Arts’ and Microsoft’s forces, announced at the beginning of September, will add another 89 EA-published titles for Ultimate-level Game Pass subscribers to peruse. They’ll also get 10 hours of free gameplay for select new EA releases and a 10% discount on any digital purchases of EA content. In other words: all the EA Play benefits, not only the games themselves.

In December, Xbox Game Pass for PC and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will get EA Play games for their Windows 10 machines. At the same time, EA Play titles will become available to play on Android mobile devices via Game Pass’ new xCloud feature, which launched this month.

Now, for the new games coming to Game Pass in October: Doom Eternal and Drake Hollow arrive Oct. 1. Doom Eternal, available on Xbox One and Android, needs no introduction (and was announced last week). Drake Hollow, for PC subscribers, is “a cooperative action village-building game,” whose setting is “a blighted mirror of our world.” It joins Game Pass through the ID@Xbox initiative.

On Oct. 8, Xbox One members (but not xCloud streamers) get access to Brütal Legend, the rokken-like-Dökken 2009 adventure from Double Fine (which Microsoft bought up last year). Indie title Ikenfell, a turn-based tactical RPG set in “the twisted halls of a vast magic school,” comes to console and PC subscribers the same day — and everyone (Xbox One, PC, and Android) on Oct. 8, too.

What’s leaving? Well, on Wednesday, subscribers will goodbye to Dirt Rally 2.0 (because Dirt 5 is launching Oct. 16), Panzer Dragoon Orta, Westerado: Double Barreled, Yooka-Laylee, Bad North, and Dishonored 2 — although with Microsoft scooping up Bethesda Softworks 10 days ago, that one might be coming back later. Xbox Game Pass members get a 20% discount on buying these titles before they depart.

On Oct. 15, Game Pass will lose Felix the Reaper, Metro 2033 Redux, Minit, Saints Row 4 Re-Elected, and State of Mind.
